The new kitchen will be ideal for serving wedding receptions, banquets, parish dinners, KoC events, school lunches, etc. The kitchen will feature large storage spaces, heavy-duty appliances, and unique features to meet food safety standards. It will handle a high output and produce food at a greater capacity than the existing kitchen. Of course, the existing kitchen will remain operational, ensuring the most versatile and flexible food service options for our parish and school. Couple the two kitchens with the additional space in the parish hall expansion, and the possibilities are endless.
One of the most requested building project features is a commercial kitchen to provide lunch to Trinity students and serve large parish gatherings. We are excited to share it with you now!

Ardaman & Associates performed a subsurface exploration and geotechnical engineering testing onsite in November. The Ardaman crew performed eight Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings ranging from 15 to 30 feet below the existing ground surface. We are happy to report the existing soils are suitable for supporting the proposed buildings on a conventional shallow foundation system.

In November, Southern Earth Sciences conducted on-site environmental testing in preparation for construction. After an extensive investigation of the Parish Hall and Building C, 73 samples were acquired and submitted for testing. The report concludes that only two small outdoor areas indicated minimal asbestos containing materials. The materials pose no risk to health and safety and will be appropriately disposed of as construction begins. We are grateful for this good news!

The building project reached many milestones in 2022! Here is a quick recap:
A team from Ardaman & Associates conducted the structural verification of the parish hall on November 21st. Our structural engineer from DH Melvin and a representative from Allstate Construction were also present. The crew employed radar equipment to identify the location of reinforcing steel at four locations in a concrete column and beam. The team also investigated the column and beam to measure comprehensive strength. The results of the exploration and testing will be reported soon. Their findings will assist the structural engineer in determining the effect of loads on the current parish hall, the new bump out, and their components. A crew from Ardaman and Associates, geotechnical consultants, was on campus on 11/2 and 11/3 to conduct soil boring tests for the building project. These tests, used to determine soil composition and conditions on our site, are a crucial step for our project. A total of eight borings were made, six 15ft. and two 30ft. All samples are being analyzed, and we will receive a complete report soon. The results will help the architects and engineers determine the exact specifications for the project.
Allstate began the structural verification of the parish hall on November 1st. The crew checked the foundation and footers on the Brevard side of the parish hall. Their findings will assist the structural engineer in determining the effect of loads on the current parish hall, the new bump out, and their components.
As we enter the permitting process, we continue to improve the campus design to meet our parish needs. To best implement the water management plan, the Family Life Center will be on a raised slab rather than have parking underneath. Additional parking is gained with many new paved spaces in front of the Neumman Center, as well as a more efficient parking design. Also, the classrooms in Building C will be relocated upstairs in the new Parish Hall bump-out and next to the new kitchen. These adjustments meet our project goals most efficiently.
We are happy to report the City of Tallahassee located the original building plans for the parish hall. Many thanks to the Growth Management Department for the help!
The project engineers visit campus regularly. Recent meetings include civil engineering, electrical, technology, and fire alarm systems. It is exciting to be at this stage of the project.
Including a new commercial kitchen is an integral part of the building project. The current kitchen will remain and function as a satellite kitchen. Sizable events will be possible, such as wedding receptions, pancake breakfasts, and lunches for our Trinity students. Additionally, events that take place simultaneously can be accommodated. We are working hand in hand with our architects and engineers to ensure the kitchens will function to meet the needs of our busy parish.
The new campus site plan originally included a driveway from Talaflo through campus. As we moved through the PUD amendment process, the City of Tallahassee discovered a regulation prohibiting a driveway of that nature. Although the driveway would have relieved some pickup/dropoff traffic on Brevard St., we are thankful the prohibition was found early, saving time and money.
On June 6, 2022, the City of Tallahassee signed and finalized the PUD Amendment.
The project team continues to meet with Lyman, Davidson, Dooley Architects, Allstate Construction, McGinnis & Fleming Engineering, Inovia Consulting Group, and DHM-Melvin Engineering to discuss the detailed planning of the project. We are very excited to arrive at this stage!
An essential step has taken place for our building project! The PUD Amendment, which proposes adding the land purchased in 2020 to our existing PUD (Planned Unit Development), was submitted to the City of Tallahassee on January 7, 2022. We are happy this area will remain green and harmonious with the existing neighborhood. The PUD Amendment is a multistep process that will take several months to complete as it works its way through the City. A few points about the PUD Amendment and the project:
